As you may be aware, since 1972 we have been fortunate enough to lease a portion of Grayland’s Hospital land and during this time we have slowly added infrastructure to this site. Our current lease expires at the end of 2024 and as you may have seen in recent media releases the WA Government has announced a redevelopment at the Graylands Hospital site to expand mental health services there. This announcement does mean that we need to relocate. 

Since late 2021 we have been working collaboratively with the Graylands Reconfiguration & Forensic Taskforce and the Department of Health to find a new site that meets our needs in the vicinity. Thanks to the Taskforce we have now secured a site just over the road at 9 John XXIII Avenue, Mt Claremont.  There is a huge amount of planning required for our relocation from the design for our new site, the probable timeline through to working on how we can ensure there is minimal disruption to our current operations. The relocation is an exciting opportunity to design fit for purpose facilities for horses, staff, clients and friends that will carry our service well into the future. 

As you can imagine, to complete this move by the end of our lease is no small feat. As a registered charity we have in the past relied upon the generosity of donations from our supporters to complete upgrades or purchase equipment. Our relocation is currently estimated to cost $4 million and as such we are reaching out to all our supporters, large and small, to seek any support you, your families, friends and workplaces might be able to contribute in anyway via donations to help with the costs associated with this move. 

In addition, we are also reaching out to philanthropic organisations, and we will also be exploring any grant funding opportunities with the WA Government.
